How does the City decide which playgrounds to replace?

Parks Issues
A single new neighborhood playground structure cost approximately $30,000. The City is typically able to budget for the replacement of 2-3 units per year. Because there are over 40 playgrounds located within City Parks it is an ongoing, annual program. The decision on replacement is based upon several factors including age, condition, and play value of the equipment.
City staff conducts regular inspections of all of the equipment throughout the year. Any equipment that is found to have the potential to be unsafe is repaired or replace immediately regardless of age.
